Lost Crown

This patient has lost a prosthetic crown...a simple diagnosis. The treatment will vary depending on whether he still has the crown or not.

If the crown is available, then:

  • Clean the internal surface of the crown.
  • Isolate, clean, and dry the tooth.
  • Affix the crown with zinc oxide and eugenol temporary cement (IRM).

If the crown is not available, then:

  • Isolate, clean and dry the tooth.
  • Affix aluminum temporary as above, if available.
  • Otherwise, cover base with stomahesive.

Refer all patients who have lost a prosthetic crown to the dental clinic for placement of a premanent crown.
