  Description:

  • Vaginal antifungal

  Indications:

  • Vaginal Candidiasis (yeast infection)

  Contraindications:

 Known sensitivity to miconazole

Precautions:

  • Pregnancy category C

  • If condition worsens, inform patient to notify health care provider.

  • Clean applicator after each use with mild soap and water.

  • Insert applicator high into vaginal cavity (except in pregnancy)

  • Refrain from intercourse during treatment.

  • Use continually, even during menstruation.

Adverse Reactions (Side Effects):

  • Vulvovaginal burning, itching and irritation (2%)

  • Pelvic cramps (2%)

  • Headache (1.3%)

  • Vaginal discharge

 

Dosage:

Vaginal tablets:

  • 100mg: Insert 1 suppository intravaginally qhs for 7 days

  • 200mg: Insert 1 suppository intravaginally qhs for 3 days

Vaginal Cream:

  • Insert 1 applicatorful intravaginally qhs for 7 days

Topical Cream:

  • Apply to affected areas twice a day for 7 days
