Hydrocortisone and Pramoxine Cream (Analpram-HC)

Description:

  • Anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive agent

Indications:

  • Topical relief of inflammatory and pruritic manifestation of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses

Contraindications:

  • History of allergy to components of the preparation

Precautions:

  • Pregnancy category C: Should only be used if potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus

  • Pediatric patients may demonstrate greater susceptibility to topical corticosteroid-induced HPA axis suppression and Cushing’s syndrome than mature patients because of a larger skin surface area to body weight ratio

Adverse Reactions (Side Effects):

  • SKIN: burning, itching, irritation, dryness, folliculitis, hypertrichosis, acneiform eruptions, hypopigmentation, perioral dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis, maceration of the skin, atrophy, striae, miliaria

Dosage:

Applied topically: 

  • Apply to the affected area as a thin film 3-4 times daily depending on the severity of the condition.  

  • Occlusive dressings may be used for the management of psoriasis or recalcitrant conditions.  

  • If an infection develops, the use of occlusive dressings should be discontinued and appropriate antimicrobial therapy instituted.
