Myoglobin is a protein found in skeletal and cardiac muscle.
Injury to striated muscle will cause a release of myoglobin into the
blood, elevating the myoglobin levels. Injuries may include:
- Traumatic injury (crush, blast)
- Excessive exercise
- Siezures
- Electrocution
- Malayan Sea Snake bite
- Myocardial infarction
