Squamous cells are the skin cells covering the cervix.
They are flat and pancake-like. Most cancer of the cervix arises from
squamous cells. Glandular cells are cuboidal or columnar
in shape, line the endocervical canal, and secrete. Infrequently,
cervical cancer can arise from the cervical glandual cells (adenocarcinoma).
