Pap smears are reported in one of three categories:
An epithelial cell abnormality could range from the
relatively minor atypical squamous cell (ASC), to various degrees of
dysplasia, to invasive cervical cancer. Epithelial abnormalities include
both squamous cell problems and glandular cell problems.
