Tioconazole (Vagistat-1)

Category:

  • Antifungal

Description:

  • Vaginal antifungal

Indications:

  • Vaginal Candidiasis (yeast infection)

Contraindications:

  •  Known sensitivity to tioconazole

Precautions:

  • Pregnancy category C

  • If condition worsens, inform patient to notify health care provider.

  • Clean applicator after each use with mild soap and water.

  • Insert applicator high into vaginal cavity (except in pregnancy)

  • Refrain from intercourse during treatment.

  • Use continually, even during menstruation.

Adverse Reactions (Side Effects):

  • Vulvovaginal burning (6%)

  • Vulvovaginal itching (5%)

Dosage:

Vaginal Cream:

  • Insert 1 applicatorful intravaginally qhs for one dose
