OB-GYN 101

5-Minute Pregnancy Video

This video is a visual tour of a pregnancy, month-by-month. Using images, sounds, and ultrasound, the physical changes occurring over nine months in the pregnant woman and her fetus are dynamically shown.

Included are two different versions of "9 months in 20 seconds" which graphically show the mother's growth.

5-Minute Pregnant Abdomen Exam

Using both graphics and actual video, important findings are illustrated, including the normal anatomic changes that occur over the course of the pregnancy.

Changes in location of the diaphragm, appendix and gallbladder are illustrated.

The technique of measuring the fundal height is shown and applied to evaluation of gestational age, fetal growth, and estimation of fetal weight.

The four Leopold Maneuvers are shown both on a live patient and on a fetal model, to better explain how the maneuvers are used clinically.

5-Minute Sonohysterogram

This 5-minute video shows the imaging technique of sonohysterography.

During a pelvic ultrasound scan, sterile saline is introduced into the uterine cavity, outlining the structures and simplifying evaluation of the uterine lining and any intracavitary masses. Shown here is one technique for performing this producedure, which includes models, images and recordings from actual exams which demonstrate both normal and abnormal findings.

Dysplasia Video

Cervical Dysplasia is the non-cancerous growth of abnormal cells. It is a common abnormality found on Pap smears and because of its association with cervical cancer, is a source of concern for patients and physicians.

 

This video shows the development, evaluation, and management of dysplasia on the cervix, including its likely natural progression, depending on severity. Using photographs, graphics and video of live patients, this was designed as an introductory teaching tool for medical students, but can be useful to anyone seeking insight into the clinical condition of dysplasia of the cervix.

TB Skin Testing

The Mantoux tuberculin skin test (or TST) is a standard method of determining whether a person is or has been infected with this bacteria. HPV Immunization

Human Papilloma Virus infections can be annoying and sometimes dangerous, because of their association with cancers of the genital tract. The HPV vaccine is one technique for reducing the risk of HPV infection of the more annoying and dangerous HPV virus subtypes. This video shows how to administer an HPV immunization, using graphics, models, and live patients. It is appropriate for those medical professionals in training, and for others who are interested in seeing an actual procedure.
